Deep Sea Dragons, as their name suggests, spend most of their time in the darkest depths of the sea. They have a bioluminescent dorsal spine that serves to attract prey and communicate with their own kind. As with many deep sea animals, they generally eat whatever they can manage to bait. They rarely leave the ocean floor, surfacing only during breeding season. When they do choose to travel to the shallower depths, they avoid bright lights and will only come up far away from shore.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Arising From Dark Depths is a cruel dragon with unflinching loyalty to The Empire and unrelenting respect for Surge of the Typhoon. He guards their watery boundaries with a vicious force that most would cringe away from if they were aware of it. He is not very social with most of The Empire, despite his loyalty. He cares about nothing so much as the protection of his home and is very territorial. The only one he speaks to with frequency is Surge of the Typhoon, who he is willing to follow without question. He believes Surge of the Typhoon to be the best suited to leadership among the four dragons that rule The Empire. He admires the water dragon's serious nature and resolve. Surge of the Typhoon, while aware of Dark Depths' cruel and vicious nature, has never regarded him with fear or judged him for his behavior. The water dragon is his the closest thing to a friend that he has, but does not consider him as such because of the high regard he holds the other in.
