Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Sanguis Forlorn is the stereotypically perfect example of what many would call the darkest dragon- a Vampire dragon. Unlike most of his cavemate Vampires, Sanguis is indeed an over-zealous hunter, and the taste of blood in his mouth combined with the overwhelming thrill of the hunt is enough to send him into a cold-blooded killing spree- one that mostly, if not always, is immediately halted by the other dragons living in his cave. He's a stone-hearted dragon, and if given the choice between hurting himself or another living creature he'd always choose the latter. Well, not always; there is one other dragon that he would never hurt, and not because of a curse or ghostly bond or anything of that ilk, but instead actual love; and that dragon is Aspiciat Redfang, his mate and the source of the only flame of love that warms his cold body.
