Shallow Water Dragons are found in tropical regions where the water is warm. They use their magic to hunt, using bubbles to capture small fish and animals. Their large, webbed feet make them excellent swimmers and they are able to move at very high speeds. Due to their bright color, these dragons are easily spotted in the lagoons where they live.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Nani Trope is dutiful and intelligent, Nani is obsessed with one thing: studying magic! She once studied so much, she made no time for anyone else, even almost forgetting her clan. She uses her knowledge, and unusually powerful gift for magical spells to help her clan members. Though sometimes she gets on her "high horse" about what's right or wrong, her eagerness to learn and lend a helpful hand endear her to her friends, and when the going gets tough, her big brain and love for her friends transform her into a natural leader. She takes after her mother who also constantly hunts for knowledge but her mother is more socially active about it. Because of her dedication towards magic she couldn't resist the temptations of learning black corrupted magic despite her mother's warnings. She fortunately stopped practicing it before it got too bad, but she still has received some nasty side effects from it. She occasionally hears sinister voices in her head that she has a hard time suppressing.
