Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s extremely curious and seems to enjoy exploring the area around it.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Little Violetta, as her name suggests, mysteriously never grew beyond a hatchling. Although none of the other dragons are entirely sure why, she has never been bothered by her small size. Sweet and kind, Little Violetta is a friend to all the hatchlings and younger dragons alike and although she is saddened by the fact that her friends will grow up without her, everyone has always been very careful to remind her that she will always be loved, despite her small size.
