Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Violet Fins of Greenfeet is a purple dorsal dragon. Being the descendant of a dorsal and a christmas dragon, she is usually very cheerful and a general feeling of happiness follows her around. Even though she is not particularly pretty nor attractive, she is still one of her clan's favorite dragons, and, along with a daydream dragon called Lively Fantasia, work together to try to improve the overall mood and happiness of the clan each day. However, Violet Fins of Greenfeet has another secret ability that almost no one knows: for some reason that even she cannot explain, she has a keen ability to seek out sweets and cakes that have been hidden. Though she has no idea how she inherited this ability, she speculates that it must've come from somewhere in her lineage.
