Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

WarmAutumnNight is a mean Seasonal dragon hatchling. She takes after her mother, GoldenEmber, an Ember dragon. WarmAutumnNight spends most of her time fighting, with other hatchlings or with Pygmy dragons and Mint dragons. She is large for a Seasonal hatchling, almost as big as a Mint. Hatchlings she fights with often end up bloody and bruised, and they run off to tell their parents. WarmAutumnNight isn't well liked by most dragons in her cave, but her mother loves her unconditionally.
