Guardian Dragons have large shields on the end of their tails. Although the shields appear to be heavy, they are light, yet nearly unbreakable. Guardian Dragons use their tail-shields, as well as their wings, to deflect attacks and protect others. Often, they will guard the eggs and hatchlings of a nest while others are away. They are generally peaceful, and will not retaliate unless necessary. They have no need to forage or hunt, as they are fed by those they protect.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

There's a thing called being dedicated to one's clan, but Rabid Guard Dog takes this too far. She obsessively clings to the Rabid Ones and their philosophy of craziness, claiming that it is the only way a dragon should live. For this reason, she is confined to the front of the cave and forbidden from following Sea Breeze as he travels to spread the word of insanity; she cannot tolerate anyone who shows open disbelief toward his ideas. Nor can she tolerate anything else that might threaten her beloved family. Whether it is an innocent bird or an inanimate object, she'll destroy it without mercy.

Rabid Guard Dog and Rabid Christmas Tree are a bonded pair. She loves him dearly, but she is scarily possessive of him; if he so much as blinks at another female (or a stray tree branch, for that matter) she will viciously assault whom or whatever dares to try rob her of her mate.
