Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

She was one of those dragons, born by a freak of destiny into a family of wild black dragons when she really deserved to be the pampered pet of a princess. As a young hatchling, she watched her mother and father toil away every day hunting and protecting their group's territory. Her only luxury was the occasional roast that they stole from passing trade caravans.

She dreamed of plates of delicious, succulent meats imported from all parts of the globe, of rich fruit found in beautiful gardens, of an army of personal servants to obey her every command. She wished to live with nobility, to surround herself with those of influence, of wealth, and of power. It didn't matter that she was just a tattered black dragon—one night she took off and flew away, never looking back. Some years later she found herself in a manor of a rich duke who lived with her and another black, Lady Green Eyes. They quickly became friends, and although it wasn't the life she imagined, it was good enough for her.
