Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Black Star Sapphire is a prodigy. Fierce Hematite has taken him as a student, and is teaching him the Warrior Arts. Black Star has proven to be particularly adept for one as young as he, embracing both the psychological and the physical demands of the teachings. Black Star is a quiet, unassuming sort of dragon. One can usually find him either in the training arena practicing, pouring over the stacks of old tomes that both Micajade and Hematite have accumulated over the centuries, or in the gardens with Crystal Calliope, where he goes to unwind from his studies. He has proven to be of great help to her there, with his quiet ways and rapier wit.
