Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Even as a hatchling, Wystie was not very well-liked or welcomed by the other dragons. Her first introduction was met with suspicion as some dragons thought she was part of a cruel joke, while a couple others honestly believed she was dead and brought the hatchling to Revilla Fe in hopes that the White dragon would be able to bring her back to life. Upset about the reactions, Wystie quickly grew up and did her best to show the other dragons she was just like everybody else. Most of her efforts fell flat, causing more stress for the ostracized dragoness.

However, things quickly changed one night when Wystie noticed things were amiss and discovered that thieves were attempting to steal the current clutch of eggs. Thanks to her valiant effort to protect the eggs all the thieves got from their efforts were bodies full of bumps and bruises.

After the incident the other dragons began to warm up to her, finally giving Wystie the one thing she truly wanted: a family.
