Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Darkpaw is far cuter than the other Black dragons, being rather undersized with huge green eyes. She seems to be the picture of innocence, but is a very good fighter, leading to her being underestimated. However, very few, including her fellow Black dragons and—oddly enough—Stormsword, know of the fierce fighting spirit beneath her exterior innocence.

She was rejected by her 'real' parents as a hatchling, and soon discovered they weren't any relation to her; instead finding out that she had been separated from her true parents by an accident whilst they were adventuring. There's a rumour going around that her real mother is Stormsword's lost half-sister (this would explain his connection to her), but it is yet to be confirmed.
