Striped Dragons come in a dazzling array of colors complemented by an intricate pattern of stripes. These bright colors and patterns help attract their favorite food, insects. Because their prey is so tiny, striped dragons must spend a large portion of their day eating. The color of the offspring is usually determined by the dragon’s mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Shishitou's name means "green pepper."  The son of Kiniro the white striped male and Shichigatsu the summer female, he combines the physical traits of both his parents with his sire's golden stripes pasted over his dam's rich green hide.  Shishitou has come up with a rather ingenious solution to the constant quest for insect food sources.  He has travelled to different regions where the insects grow substantially larger and brought back bug eggs, which he keeps in an isolated cavern deep within the cave.  Having drafted the aid of the earth dragons to secure the cavern, he now essentially raises herds of bugs for later consumption.  The other striped dragons have recently begun to help care for the bug farm in exchange for a portion of the harvest.
