Red Dragons are similar to typical story book dragons. They shoot flames, can fly, etc. However, they aren’t evil creatures as depicted in myths and won’t go around raiding castles, killing knights, or kidnapping princesses. They live in a variety of habitats, from forests to coastlines to abandoned castles, usually in warm climates, and eat whatever living creatures they can find.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Scarlet is different from the rest of her clan and her breed. She doesn't enjoy fighting, usually remaining in the cave or in a corner of a meadow with Mandarian. She's shy and tends to shun company other than her lifelong friend and protector. Deep in her heart she holds a secret, burning passion for Mandarian, but she knows that he doesn't share her feelings, thinking of them as only friends. And she knows that someday some other female dragon will come and steal his heart. But still, she acts as though she only wants them to be friends, even though when another takes him for their own, it will break her heart.

Her own personal wishes are that she would have a slimmer, more feminine body, like the silver dragons. She would love to leave the Rain Clan and start her own clan, the Scarlet Clan, but Emerald won't allow her to leave their family.
