Shimmer-scale Dragons are a very beautiful breed with small—but highly reflective—scales that shimmer and shine as the dragon moves through water. They don’t have fins or webbed feet, but their long, eel-like bodies allow them to swim quite fast. They were once rumored to carry large pearls in their claws—causing many to seek them out in search of this fabulous treasure. In reality, the “pearl” is of greater value to the dragon, for the fabled treasure is actually an egg carried by a migrating female.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

9000 Plus's parents may have loved the attention they got from their lineages, but 9000 Plus gained only misery from the fame. Both of his parents try to protect him from the hysteria, with his dad Glitch calling all the attention to himself and his mom Flames keeping their home private. Still, once 9000 Plus couldn't leave his cave without attracting mobs of dragons, his parents decided to send him to a mage school high in the mountains. Flames had taught 9000 Plus fire magic, which his skill with was remarkable, so the Magi at the school accepted him easily. There 9000 Plus met his first close friends, including an Ultraviolet named Othiupine. They almost never leave each other's sides, and the Magis believe that the two of them are the best mages ever in their school. 9000 Plus and Othiupine can often be found weaving fantastic patterns in fire atop the highest peak.
