Deep Sea Dragons, as their name suggests, spend most of their time in the darkest depths of the sea. They have a bioluminescent dorsal spine that serves to attract prey and communicate with their own kind. As with many deep sea animals, they generally eat whatever they can manage to bait. They rarely leave the ocean floor, surfacing only during breeding season. When they do choose to travel to the shallower depths, they avoid bright lights and will only come up far away from shore.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Serenity Of The Deep, often abbreviated to Serenity, is the guardian of the Noctus Crater, a pit formed by a meteor over 35,000 feet below sea level. In this crater live an abundance of deep sea fish and a few pygmies which rely on Serenity to protect them. She circles around the crater nonstop, fighting any dragon that may pose a threat to the crater's residents.

The reason she owes so much to the Noctus Crater is because when she was little, her parents were killed, and she was bound to join them, but the pygmies of Noctus Crater took her in, healing her in return for her protection.

She could leave at any time, and she could probably kill every living thing in that crater if she really wanted to. It was and always has been her choice to remain there, but the Noctus Crater is her home, and those who live there are her only family now.
