Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. You find it odd that the hatchling doesn’t move at all during the day, but at night its colors change and it is full of energy.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

ABOVE longs to fly. Unfortunately, it was frozen just before it grew wings.

Not one to merely give up, ABOVE has become an inventor, studying dragon, bird, and insect wings, and building all sorts of contraptions. The fact that none of these inventions works does not seem to faze ABOVE, and it works tirelessly to create a flying machine.

It has not occurred to ABOVE to ask one of the adult dragons for a lift.
