Sophrosyne Dragons are a rare sight, typically making themselves known only to protect and heal the vulnerable. A visit from one serves as a reminder that kindness prevails, and that there’s always hope for positive change. While it is known that they possess the power to reverse botched spells, some claim they can even cure methodically-cast curses. This has never been formally documented, but these dragons have been seen arriving in the aftermath of violence, and the scars of tragedy seem to heal faster in their wake. The feathers of a Sophrosyne have thus become a symbol of perseverance and light in the face of darkness.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. If she is on her own, Herka is one of the most trusted dragons in Laura-Lana's clan. The reason for this is her deep love for all species of dragons.

Her best friends are the magi dragons Cosinus and Euler and the Hellfire Wyvern Red Pi.

Together the four of them aren't trusted at all, because they like pestering the rest of the dragons in the clan with difficult riddles.

Herka is named in honor of a mysterious creature who identifies herself with the letter H.
