Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has a large, shield-like object at the end of its tail that it uses for protection.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Though still a hatchling on the outside, Edik is older than quite a few of the dragons in his clan in both age and mind. He has a surprising amount of maturity, despite being frozen soon after hatching. Because he cannot hunt for himself, the adult Guardian Halvor has adopted him in a sense and, in addition to caring for him, teaches him how to be a successful guard and believes that he will get bigger some day. Edik finds this sad and also a bit amusing, as he knows he will never grow but guards with Halvor all the same.  When not guarding he enjoys borrowing scrolls to read, and sometimes swipes them from nearby towns. He always does so with the intention of returning them, but sometimes he keeps his favorites and stashes them away in his den.
