Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It was born with a full set of wings.

And look! Its wings have grown larger! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

SandyDream is a Ridgewing Dragon hatchling. Her light coloring makes her stand out, though her wings blend in with the flowers around her cave. SandyDream wishes that she could go to the desert, because then she would blend in better with the sand. She dreams of visiting the desert when she grows up. SandyDream is friends with so many of the hatchlings in her cave, but she can be a little bit shy around adults she doesn't know. It takes her a couple days to warm up to strange dragons, but then she is just as friendly as can be.
