Young Pullet Surprise is an aspiring writer of fiction and nonfiction.  Her early works were mainly readable, if uninspired, tales of barnyard life.  They earned her a steady, if not terribly large, fan base that reliably purchases her works.  Pullet has had difficulty producing as many stories as her fan base would like, because she types by the hunt and peck method.  As a result, her income has historically been chicken feed.

Pullet's current project, tentatively titled "Dodging Pullets," is a documentary of how to survive as a barnyard fowl in a cave full of dragons.  She hopes to win a major literary award for this effort.  With the money from the award, she plans to hire a typist; but she may be counting her chickens before they hatch.
