Electric Dragons wield electricity with great prowess. Bright sparks race across these dragons’ bodies in a dazzling dance of light, complemented by the blindingly radiant sparks on their tails. Using their bellies and manes as stores for this electrical energy, Electric Dragons wield crackling magic, stunning and electrocuting their prey with a whip of their tail. During mating season it is typically those with the most brilliant sparks—an indicator of strength and hunting ability—that are drawn to each other.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ramrod is the chief medical officer under Ferus Prime's command. He is one of the older dragons, and is probably the closest thing to a friend that Ferus has. As a veteran, Ramrod has seen a lot of the world... and he doesn't like it. He is a rather disgruntled, insincere, and sarcastic dragon. He is highly cynical and very hard to please, often forcing his apprentices to redo jobs over and over to get them correct. Younger recruits see him as a scourge because when they get themselves in trouble, he is put in charge of their punishments.

Contrary to the sympathetic medical archetype, Ramrod is insensitive, especially when dealing with particularly bothersome patients. While a great medic he isn't so exceptional in caring about his cases.

He wasn't too pleased when Ferus assigned him ambitious young warrior Smokejumper as an apprentice in order to calm the child down, but his doggedness has succeeded in weathering the soldier's dangerously energetic behavior.
