Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

When an infection overtook the region, some dragons... changed. While most became highly aggressive, ready to kill anything in their way, the Witch became passive. She will hide in dark areas, sobbing quietly to herself, trying to avoid the chaos that her home has become. During the day, she will wander in search of shade, or if she catches the scent of her favorite food- sugar. One might think the Witch to be a simple foe.

'Avoid the ones who cry', however, has become one of the most well known pieces of advice to anyone fighting their way through the hordes. If she is exposed to light, or even just stared at for too long, she will attack. Try as they might to fight back, the Witch's astoundingly high stamina mean few ever harm her, let alone come close to killing her. The lucky ones get away with shredded wings and a broken leg. The unlucky... well, death from the Witch's claws is swift, there is usually little pain.
