Magma Dragons are capable of withstanding the intense temperatures of their element. They live in volcanic regions, their bodies coated in the red hot magma which clings to their scales. They must leave the lava fields in order to hunt, although they require surprisingly little food to sustain their lumbering mass.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Pelehonuamea, also known as Pele, is a member of the elite Legendary Trio.  The other two members are her brother and sister by oath; Glaceus, the cruel Ice dragon, and Thora, vindictive mistress of thunder. The three were drawn to each other by their powerful summoning ability, and together they have sworn to summon and protect their master—the great Guardian of Nature dragon. Unlike her siblings, Pele is much more merciful and gentle. On the rare occasion that she hunts, she only preys on the already dead or dying. She does not take pleasure in others' pain, and spends most of her time relaxing and enjoying the warmth of the lava pools in her volcano. She has tried to instill a sense of compassion in her siblings, however there have been no improvements in either of them, just failed attempts on her part. She hopes that someday they will change, and adopt her warmhearted ways.
