Deep Sea Dragons, as their name suggests, spend most of their time in the darkest depths of the sea. They have a bioluminescent dorsal spine that serves to attract prey and communicate with their own kind. As with many deep sea animals, they generally eat whatever they can manage to bait. They rarely leave the ocean floor, surfacing only during breeding season. When they do choose to travel to the shallower depths, they avoid bright lights and will only come up far away from shore.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ukana is a bit unnervingly quirky. She doesn't like company much, and simply spends most of her time deep in the sea. Dragons from the surface try to seek her out often though, because many believe that Ukana is a psychic. Ukana is probably just intuitive and a lucky guesser, but has this aura of wisdom and tends to be creepily accurate. Whether she is a psychic or not, other dragons try to get her help a lot. She lives in the farthest hidden corner of some underwater caverns, and anyone trying to visit her is likely to get very, very lost. Ukana comes out often, to fish and explore, but doesn't like the surface at all. Her main  company is Puhndii, the waterhorse, who will follow her around and try to get her to have a chat with him. Puhndii also serves as the messenger between Ukana and the surface dragons, carrying questions to Ukana and her cryptic advice back to the surface.
