Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This little marvel came wrapped up in a gift box, literally. He was supposed to be a gift for a mans wife, but she shrieked when she saw the dragon and screamed at her husband to take it away. The man was angry, for he had traded a ruby for this hatchling. He dumped the gift box in front of a random door and banged the knocker. A little girl opened the door and saw the gift box, opened it, then shrieked, but this was a shriek of happiness. She had always wanted a dragon of her own, and thought this one was particularly cute. Her parents wanted a dragon, but they could never afford so much as an egg. Very happy in his new home, this cute little fella helps with the housework and keeps everything tidy.
