Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Kode is a frozen autumn hatchling. He is part of Sarunikae's clan, and loves it there, his best friends being a vine dragon named Vigi and a mint dragon named Miff. Kode is one of the most lovely hatchlings, along with the frozen white dragon, Misa Shiro. Kode is a little rebellious, but always smart. He loves sitting with Misa under one of his favorite trees, despite the fact Miff and Vigi spy on him.
