Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The beast was the child of a dragon as famous for his infidelity as for his appearance, and he suffered on both accounts. The screams and hatred of cheated mistresses--as often directed at himself as at his father--chased him from the nest one time after another, only for the incessant squabbling questions of others about his ancestry and his magic to chase him back in. So it was that youthful energy turned to weariness too early, the dragon forsaking his parentage--but not his half siblings. Ever a leader to the others, even those older than himself, he sought to sow peace among the younger generation so that they would not suffer from the same bickering misery that their parents had. His efforts earned him much loyalty and much love, but not all wounds can be so healed; his father's mistresses--and a select few of their offspring--still view him with hatred and malice, more than one scheme slowly fitting together to end his life...
