Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It seems very friendly and loves the sunshine.

And look! It has grown brightly-colored wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Pip's mother is a comedian, and her father is a musician; both are anagallis dragons. She herself wants to be a magician's assistant, carrying on her family legacy of entertaining. One day, while visiting a quiet school for aspiring wizards (her family's part of one big traveling act called the Merrycreek Muses), she requested from a student that she be frozen so she may retain her small size. She wants to be pulled out of a hat like a rabbit.
