Seasonal Dragons take on the characteristics of the season during which they are born. Thus, eggs that are laid in spring match the pink flowers and green buds of spring, and those that are laid in the summer grow to depict the bright green of the forest trees and the yellow of the sun. Eggs laid in autumn display the bright colors of leaves falling from trees, and those that are laid during winter take on the appearance of the icy snow.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Shawn Flynn can be considered the opposite of a perfectionist dragon. He lives by the motto of "good enough," to the frequent exasperation of his friends and clanmates, really only doing what he needs to in order to get by. It makes him a good dragon to go to when one has a deadline they have to meet, but in more precise projects, he's more of a liability than any sort of help.

Despite his lazy nature, he's a fun dragon to be around, managing to even break dragons like Grant or Sammi out of their grouchy shells without much effort at all. His loud voice and personality have earned him the dedication of a loyal entourage of friends that he adores just as much as they adore him, and Sammi frequently bemoans the fact that Shawn doesn't pay more attention to detail, as he'd be the "perfect partner" otherwise. His friendship is certainly a good friendship to earn and maintain, even if his laziness does earn him a healthy amount of shame from others.
