Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

JetDarkVeil is a very lucky Black Dragon hatchling. She was attacked by older male hatchlings in the cave she was hatched in, beaten and clawed to an inch of her life. JetDarkVeil was dragging herself as far away from them as she could. Miraculously, she was found by a passing Black queen called ShatteredHopes, who mentally called White Dragon healers from the cave's Clinic. JetDarkVeil is terrified of any male hatchling or even adult bucks, so she only really trusts her adoptive mothers, ShatteredHopes and PoisonMarkaleb. JetDarkVeil tries to avoid any other dragons, but can never be found anywhere near a buck dragon.
