Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s rather plain looking, though.

And look! It has grown wings, and bright markings have developed all over its body.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Blackbird is a young simpleminded dragon with a loving personality. Others take advantage of her trust and make up frightening tales of vicious monsters to scare the poor girl. Besides isolating herself from the surreal world the other dragons informed her about, she likes spending time with other hatchlings catching butterflies and crickets. She knows somewhere in her heart the world isn't as scary as the others say it is, and she's waiting for the one dragon to come along and tell her the truth about life.
