Ice Dragons are fierce predators who hunt using their extremely cold breath. The breath of an ice dragon can freeze its prey solid in seconds. The body of an ice dragon is so cold that icicles will form along its skin no matter the outside temperature.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Poliahu once happily lived side-by-side with Haukea, another Ice dragon. However, three Magma dragons and two Thunder dragons came to Mauna Kea one day in hopes of recruiting him for summoning Scupp the Gaia, a dragon Guardian of Nature. Without notice, Haukea left Poliahu and went with the five dragons. Poliahu led a lonesome life atop the snowy mountains. She cried icicle tears that would fall and shatter on the rocks below her. It was then that she heard a voice. She listened as it introduced itself as Scupp the Gaia of whom Haukea aided in summoning finally. Scupp, in her sweet and kind voice invited Poliahu to walk along Haukea and herself. She could hear her sad thoughts and sound of her tears shattering. Poliahu could not resist, she accepted Scupp's offer and followed Scupp's directions. When she found Haukea, they both were frozen at first as if they were in a dream. When they realized it, they were happy to finally be reunited.
