Seasonal Dragons take on the characteristics of the season during which they are born. Thus, eggs that are laid in spring match the pink flowers and green buds of spring, and those that are laid in the summer grow to depict the bright green of the forest trees and the yellow of the sun. Eggs laid in autumn display the bright colors of leaves falling from trees, and those that are laid during winter take on the appearance of the icy snow.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Shiorelinne is the Winter daughter of the Black Duskglider and Winter Glacioulnesse. Calm, gentle and cheerful, her sweet nature and willingness to help others makes her well liked by everyone, including her aloof and cold elder brother Frostflyer. She took to following him around as soon as she could walk and as far as she is concerned, he is her hero. The fact that he either completely ignored her or brutally pushed her away did not seem to deter her. Perhaps her very tenacity impressed him, because he slowly started taking notice of her, even consenting to carry her to the higher reaches where he usually practises until her new wings were strong enough. Shiorelinne spends time with all the dragons in her family and has even attempted to make friends with Rose satin the Red, who is a bully and is avoided by most other dragons. That attempt failed and if FrostFlyer had not come to her rescue, things would have gone badly. Rose Satin aside, everyone welcomes the Winter's company.
