Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Seraphina's Eclipse is named after her parents' "Sephs" in a "more feminine" way and her color, which her mistress thinks is like a moon's eclipse. She has observed that her ebony blackness contrasted with her cremello-like line of color lining her bottom side makes it seem much like a moon's eclipse. Her bright eyes are also a marvel, helping her hunt at night with her allies. Also making sense with her name is that her absolute favorite time is when the sun is eclipsing the moon, but besides that she loves hunting at night with her allies, and sometimes attacking in revenge to earlier made "enemies". But also, at times she can be mellow and simply fly alone along the meadowed hills at sunset or sunrise. She is a true warrior, her mistress can see in her spirit and build. But not wanting to devastate her young life by abandoning her, nor wanting an extra female Black Dragon, she has frozen her in a late stage of being a hatchling.
