Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

User Description

Spectriall SunWisp (after the gemstone: Spectrolite) was adopted into the clan cave as the 216th dragon, her tiny egg found by The Clan Mother in the tender hours shortly following the dawn of a bright spring day. Like others of her kind, she has an extremely cheery and friendly disposition, and she spends much of her time in the company of humans, fluttering in the warmth of the suns rays like a wisp in the wind. She has formed a rather strong affection for Spectrolitus, and she seems to be one of the only distractions capable of pulling him away from his ever vigilant pursuit of cherries, his favorite delicacy. Although originally she enjoyed the never ending stream of the red berries, of late she has taken to squashing them in groups. Surprisingly, her mate seems unaffected by this display, much to her mild aggravation. It is uncertain what will become of the pair, but the clan elders seem confident that her berry-smashing will subside once they successfully produce offspring.
