Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It loves watching the reflection of stars in the water.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

When Hatchicin was picked up, Recila noted that the shell was especially delicate; more like a Swallow Dragon than a Royal Blue. Later on, he hatched early—far too early, after a clumsy hatchling crashed into his egg and gave the process a jump start. Recila was worried, as was the resident Healer, Galfin. Still, they allowed him a few days before coming to any conclusions. Eventually though, it became apparent that his little body could scarcely support itself, and so, in a desperate bid to save him, Galfin gathered the Magi dragons and performed the Freezing ritual.

Hatchicin survived, thankfully, and is healthier than he ever was before, but he is still the sickliest hatchling of the bunch, and has little energy to spare for rough-housing.
