Coral Pygmy Wyverns are coastline vagrants, dominant in their ecosystems. They spend most of their time swimming around shallow coral atolls, snacking on the creatures that make their homes there. Don’t be fooled by their small size—these tiny dragons pack a ferocious punch; they can be painful to sharks, dragons, and other substantially larger predators. They are, unsurprisingly, difficult to integrate into human society.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Pygmy dragons are the smallest category of dragons, being on the same scale as domesticated animals. They are often found around concentrated populations of dragons, relying on their larger brethren to ward away potential predators and leave scraps. As such, the majority of a pygmy’s diet is scavenged. Due to their tiny size, pygmies do not breed with larger varieties of dragons.

User Description

Just about everyone can hum at least one folk song about a coral pygmy, but what very few know is that many of those songs were inspired by one specific dragon. One day, a fisherman saw a coral pygmy attacking a shark and decided to intervene, as much for the shark's sake as for the dragon. Tixcej, true to his breed type, repaid the favor by biting the man, stealing a fish, and flying off. More charmed than offended by the interaction, the fisherman took to leaving fish out for Tixcej to "steal." Never one to pass up a free meal, Tixcej did so, and the two became something approaching friends. The fisherman and his mascot (Tixcej would quibble about which one of them was the mascot, but nobody asked him) soon became local legends, inspiring stories and songs. Ever since, coral pygmies have been used in folk songs as a symbol of defiance and the small triumphing over the mighty. If he knew, Tixcej would approve.
