Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This dragon is very quiet and thoughtful, and spends most of his time pondering why the word peridot is in his name, when that gemstone is a brilliant green and his coloration is white and gold. Others have suggested that his clever mind could be better used thinking over more important things, but he insists that the only way one can move forward is if one understands one's roots. His owner could chime in and tell him that she only named him that to honor his parents, but she secretly enjoys seeing his mind racing.
