Red Dragons are similar to typical story book dragons. They shoot flames, can fly, etc. However, they aren’t evil creatures as depicted in myths and won’t go around raiding castles, killing knights, or kidnapping princesses. They live in a variety of habitats, from forests to coastlines to abandoned castles, usually in warm climates, and eat whatever living creatures they can find.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

When Scatha Morchaint emerged from her egg, the other dragons were unsure of her breed or even whether or not she was a dragon. Her malformation was disturbing to most of the clan, and many wished her to be thrown from the nest. Asha, the white elder, was the first to take her part. Asha argued that it was too soon to decide on the ugly hatchling's fate. Soon others stepped forward in agreement and so it was decided that Scatha would be allowed to grow to see if she would improve. As time passed, she remained terrible to look upon, but it became apparent that her ugliness was only scale-deep. The other hatchlings loved her for her playfulness and warmth, and soon the adult dragons were won over as well.

Now that she is grown, she is frightening to those who do not know her, for she looks monstrous, but the other dragons in her clan find her appearance endearing. She lights up a cavern with her affectionate nature, and many say that they would not trade her for a silver's glow.
