Sophrosyne Dragons are a rare sight, typically making themselves known only to protect and heal the vulnerable. A visit from one serves as a reminder that kindness prevails, and that there’s always hope for positive change. While it is known that they possess the power to reverse botched spells, some claim they can even cure methodically-cast curses. This has never been formally documented, but these dragons have been seen arriving in the aftermath of violence, and the scars of tragedy seem to heal faster in their wake. The feathers of a Sophrosyne have thus become a symbol of perseverance and light in the face of darkness.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Like his mother, Spiritu has a talent for healing that few other dragons possess. Unlike his mother, however, who heals by encouraging the body to perform its own duties, Spiritu's abilities are truly supernatural. Even a warrior, battle-wounded and close to death, is in no danger when Spiritu heals. Among the most amazing things, however, is his ability to free angry spirits from the curse that binds them to their rotten corpse, and return them to the afterlife. Because of this, he often accompanies Occasionally on her journeys to zombie-infested areas, feeling more useful out on the battlefield than stuck in some cave curing bruises.
