Shimmer-scale Dragons are a very beautiful breed with small—but highly reflective—scales that shimmer and shine as the dragon moves through water. They don’t have fins or webbed feet, but their long, eel-like bodies allow them to swim quite fast. They were once rumored to carry large pearls in their claws—causing many to seek them out in search of this fabulous treasure. In reality, the “pearl” is of greater value to the dragon, for the fabled treasure is actually an egg carried by a migrating female.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

A rather eccentric shimmerscale, Prince Horus, as he absolutely insists upon being called, believes that he is literally a descendant of the sun; and he pays it homage in addition to the usual religion of the clan. What put this idea into his head, no dragon can say... certainly his scales shine enough for it to be so. Most of the other dragons accept this odd belief as something that cannot be changed, though some have certainly tried; his belief is mostly harmless, leading him to spend more time than is usual in sun basking and contemplating that orb's bright glory... and at worst to 'reasoning' with those that doubt his solar pedigree. Just because his parent's names, and those of their parents before that, are recorded for all is of no consequence to him. Contrary to what one might think, though, he generally appears to be perfectly sane. Indeed, conversing upon any other subject her appears to be a perfectly normal prince of the court... and as benevolent a one as could be named.
