Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Despite being as black as outer space, it has a few bright patterns on it.

And look! It has grown wings and its scales have gained beautiful patterns. It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

A diligent young hatchling, this fellow has a most particular ancestry: both his maternal grandmother and his paternal great grandparents are silver dragons. This heritage has not gone unnoticed in his genetics, and both his wings and scales are prone to giving off a brilliant shine when caught in the moonlight. Some have described it as similiar to the appearance of the sea, where metallic sheens and deep emeralds mix so harmoniously.

And indeed, he is quite fond of the sea, often pausing to admire the reflection of stars in the waters. But just because he enjoys the occasional pretty view doesn't mean he's a laze about; while the tamer who adopted him doesn't require a specific service of him, he's determined to be a hard worker like his parents, and has appointed himself as a scout.
