Blacktip Dragons are a small, shore-dwelling breed that tend to nest on sheer ocean side cliffs. They live in groups under a dominant female, who prevents her subordinates from breeding. During the mating season, a group of Blacktips can be very noisy and smelly indeed; males produce a distinctive musky odor and loud, low-pitched honking noises in an attempt to woo the alpha female.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

This passionate blacktip was routinely causing mischief and often getting into disputes with hatchlings of other species when she was little. When she first came across another blacktip hatchling being bullied and picked on, she was quick to intervene and the two came to be fast friends and co-conspirators. She dreamed of leading a pack of blacktips better than any other, a group unrivaled in size and power with her as its leader. Her friend and eventual mate quickly came to admire her strength and resolve, and the two worked together to begin building their Salt Brigade. Now Lord and Lady of their oversized pack, they drew more and more blacktips to the group and quickly outgrew the moniker of a brigade, becoming known instead as the Army of Salt. Only time will tell what Lady Saltine and her mate intend to do with the dragons at their command.
