Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Hail The Hero, or shortened to Hail, is a very calm dragon for her species. She rarely fights with any of the other dragons, though she will do so to protect her eggs and her lineage. She hasn't seemed to settle down to any one dragon, rather breeding with a different one each season to increase the lineage variety. She is one of the oldest dragons in the cave, though she is also one of the most protective. One of the youngest dragons, a fellow black dragon named Black named Was Di Loe, has taken her eye. She might breed to produce a near pure black egg, or she might choose Ice Shard, repaying him for his many years of faithful guarding.
