Failed attempts to experiment with magic often result in transforming dragons into these hellish creatures. They are extremely dangerous, and will mindlessly kill any living creature without regard to friend or foe.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

No one knows which side the blast came from, only that the passing dragon was of neither the Clementine nor Deirwater tribe. As soon as he was discovered, dying on the beach, the island's healers and magicians tried their best to salvage his life force, to no avail. They succeeded only in keeping him back from death's gate long enough for him to swear vengeance on the dragons whose squabble had cost him his life and his freedom.

Drawing energy from the plane of Dark, the Phantom haunts the island by night. All who wander near his resting place disappear, and are later discovered as twisted corpses. Motivated purely by hate, the Phantom has no thoughts of his own. He will only find rest once the dragons of Clementine and Deirwater are completely wiped out.
