Sunstone Dragons are named after the orb on their tails, which resembles the gem of the same name. Their social structure resembles a lion pride, with one dominant male and several females banded together with their young. They prefer arid climates where they can blend in and dig for minerals and gemstones that they not only collect, but eat. The more gems they consume, the larger their tail stone grows. They are an aggressive breed; it is not uncommon to see two males battling for mates and territory.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Orbis was found by two members of the Tribe, drowning in river beneath the Sacred Waterfall in their territory. The dragons who found him; Aubrey Leaves and Paint Splatters were looking for food when they spotted him and hauled him out almost immediately. He was barely alive: he wasn't breathing, the orb-like stone on his tail was dull and his wings had been torn to shreds on the rocks. They took him to the Tribe's shaman, Storm Chaser, who made him breath in smoke to dry up the water in his lungs. Whilst this was going on Paint Splatters and a few other Tribe Members had decided that he must have been Sacred, since he fell in the Sacred Water. He survived after much attention from Storm Chaser but had hit his head and has lost his memory. He has decided to stay with the Tribe until either his memory returns or is invited to stay forever.
