Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Electric yellow scales shimmer brightly across its belly, and an even brighter spark adorns its tail.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

A quiet, diligent little dragon, this one is determined to become a great electric dragon when she grows up. And so she tries to study what the older dragons do, the way they roar like thunder and seem to bend the wind to their will. While she does try her best, her attempts to bellow in such a way come out as sharp little squeaks, and her flying adventures usually wind up with her plastered against a storm window. Still, she is nothing if not persistent, and determinedly keeps up her ferocious, storm-like squeaks and wild wing-thrashing until the storm abates.
