Pryanost Lindwyrms use their heightened sense of smell to search for their favorite foods, which range from roots to tree bark that share characteristic strong, warm flavors. Though generally elusive, they are often spotted in the winter when the scents of mulled cider and spiced cookies draw them into towns and villages. Kind folks who leave out a bowl of cider and a plate of pretty iced cookies overnight may wake to find the delectable gift gone and soft tufts of fur left in its place. Clothes woven of this fur carry the gentle scent of wintry spices and always keep those who wear them cozy no matter how cold it is. Pryanost Lindwyrms use their fast-shedding fur to line their nests, keeping their eggs safe and warm.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Thyme is one of the villagers in the town the Jingle Lads are from. This group goes out each winter solstice, collecting naughty dragons from neighboring territories to sacrifice to the monster that threatens their home. Thyme knows full well the history of this group and why their duty is so important, having experienced the tragic attack from the beast that initially destroyed their home and losing their previous leader, Aeg. Even so, Thyme is strictly against the group and their methods and wants to fix things so no more blood will be spilled. She is a highly intelligent dragon and wants nothing more than to help others, Jingle Lads included. For now, she works with Elf, the second in-command, to help reduce the amount of sacrifices needed. Being so close to him really helps, since it means she has a less of a chance to be turned in herself for standing against them, although Elf often pleads with her to be careful, stating he might not always be able to protect her from the lads.
