Aww... It’s a cute baby drake. Its dark colors resemble the night.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young drakes are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own.

Dusky is very shy and will run at the sight of any hatchling larger than herself. As a result, she seem to only be able to play with other Night Glory pygmy hatchlings. She loves to eat bugs, especially fireflies, and she enjoys the beautiful glow they give off when there are many of them clustered together. Dusky prefers to collect smooth pebbles as opposed to precious or semi-precious stones.
