It was previously believed that purple dragons were exclusively female, but this is not the case. Recent environmental shifts have revealed the existence of both genders of this breed. Female behavior is well known; they are primarily herbivores but will eat meat during mating season. On the other hand, very little is known about the behavior and habits of male purple dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Feinrian, though not the oldest dragoness to bless the Clan, is very clearly the leader of the clan. The purple dragoness lives up to her name as the Brilliant Queen, being both incredibly intelligent as well as strong. Unlike the other dragons in the Clan who, from time to time glow with power, Feinrian constantly emits an aura of regal grace and leadership that brings nearly all of the Clan to their knees before her. Her love and mate is of course the Black dragon, Aegdae, even if he is not dominant. She trusts and often depends upon Haikagura as a father figure, looking to him for advice when things go awry and the Clan's safety is in jeopardy.

Her eldest daughter, Guilin, was sure to follow in her mother's footsteps, before a tragic accident befell Guilin's twin and Feinrian was forced to declare her daughter emotionally unfit for the mantle, as such, Feinrian no longer shares a deep bond with Guilin, and is constantly mourning the loss of her daughter's trust.
